Parish Profile

The Parish Profile which includes the Statement of Need was prepared by the PCC in the period November 2015 to January 2016.  The PCC is committed to an open recruitment and selection process so several church members contributed to the narrative part of the Parish Profile. A congregational consultation was held on Sunday 13 December 2015 when every member of the congregation was invited to comment on or add to the draft Statement of Need.

As part of the process of negotiating the shared vision of the parish and the deanery in moving forward with this appointment, the Seccretary of the PCC emailed the Archdeacon of Manchester with this additional "gloss" on the Statement of Need:

I attach an edited version of the Statement of Need with what we want the new parish priest to prioritise in terms of their ministry highlighted in bold.  I have also numbered the items for ease of reference.  I hope you will appreciate that, of those in bold, Items 1, 2, 12 and 15 are what we want the new priest to do; Items 5, 10 and 11 are what we hope the new priest will facilitate rather than doing her- or himself.  Maybe the Parish Profile does not emphasise sufficiently the how much the resourcefulness of the laity at St Chad’s has had to increase in recent years.  Our vision is of continuing, or even accelerating, development of the ministry of the laity at St Chad's, through greater engagement in worship, practical steps in mission, deeper discipleship and, like Paul told the Corinthians in last Sunday’s Epistle, doing better at behaving as the Body of Christ.  We see this as absolutely essential for the future health of the church and congregation at St Chad’s so much of the Statement of Need is aimed at ensuring that our new priest understands and will engage with this vision.

For convenience, the Role Description and Person Specification are linked.
